Tom Rushworth

Originally from Macclesfield in Cheshire, I moved to Norwich in 1993 due to a job change and never left. My partner Sophie, originally from Norfolk, and I love the city and the surrounding area. A graduate Engineering, I have worked for various engineering and manufacturing businesses over the years in a variety of countries including a few years living in New Zealand and travelling regularly around Southeast Asia. I still travel extensively with my work as a Consultant Engineer (since 2016) training folks at companies like Rolls Royce Aero Engineering (not the cars!) in the design of complex systems. I have been a car enthusiast all my life, introduced to the highs and lows of DIY maintenance by my late father, who was a keen Alvis fan. As my job does not provide a company car, I thought I might as well buy one that interests me, even excites me, and this led me to acquiring my first Merc in 2017 and I have been a fan ever since. I currently run a CLK500 and an SLK350, the plan/excuse being that I have a Winter Car and a Summer Car. So, currently very much at the modern classic end of the MB Club spectrum as my Mercs must be practical daily drives and not something I would hate to get dirty or devalue, but as I head toward retirement in 2027 it might be time to add a Spring and Autumn car to the collection.
